Match Overview

Radcliffe Town produced an excellent all-round performance to secure a convincing 4–1 victory over Glossop North End Community.

Radcliffe started the match brightly, taking control of the opening 15–20 minutes and playing some really good football. Glossop then enjoyed a spell of pressure for around 10 minutes and created a chance from a low driven cross from wide. Unfortunately, a mistake when attempting to clear saw the ball end up in the back of the net, giving Glossop the lead.

Radcliffe responded brilliantly, continuing to control possession and play with confidence. The pressure eventually paid off as Josh Whittles produced a fantastic finish to level the game.

Half-time: Radcliffe Town 1–1 Glossop North End Community

The second half was dominated by Radcliffe from start to finish. The lads continued to play composed football, controlled the game and gave Glossop very little opportunity to get back into the match.

Josh Whittles added his second of the afternoon with another well-taken goal before a dangerous corner caused confusion in the Glossop box, resulting in an own goal to make it 3–1.

Radcliffe continued to push and produced some excellent football down the left-hand side, eventually adding a fourth to put the game beyond doubt.

Key Moments

The whole team stood out today. Every single player showed a fantastic attitude, great team spirit, determination and a willingness to work for each other. That mentality was reflected in both the performance and the final result.

Looking Ahead

The lads will regroup on Wednesday for training, where we’ll work on a few areas identified from today’s game.

The critiques are only slight, but we have standards at Radcliffe Town and we need to keep those standards high.

Another big test awaits next weekend as we travel to Ramsbottom, so we need to be ready and prepared for another tough game.

From the Touchline

"“Great performance from the lads, and that includes everyone who came on from the bench. We keep saying this is a squad game, not a starting XI, and that really showed today.

I’m really pleased with the lads’ attitude, work rate and willingness to battle for each other. We played some really good football and there are still a few things we can improve on, but the lads should really enjoy today.

We’ll take the positives and move on to next week.”"
